Default Ive got a ZOOM ADSL X6 modem n router in one, I ask it to detect my settings and...

...it says it can find the modem All the cables are connected correctly, ethernet from PC to router, Phone line from the wall into the router. But every time i try and get it to detect my settings to always says "unable to detect modem" how can this happen if its all connected correctly?
Ive run the set up CD the very last stage of the set up is when it says click next to detect your settings.
Can I have an answer in simple English, the most I know about PCs is how to turn them on and off. Sorry for being abit dense

Your PC won't see it as a modem. You should have received an installation CD with the router. Try installing that before connecting it to your PC.

Good luck

In response to additional details:

Oh, sorry I misunderstood you. If you are connecting via ethernet then check your ethernet card is working ok. Go to device manager and look in there for any problems. The same applies if you are connecting via USB although it is better to connect using your ethernet port.
I hope this is of more use to you.

Let me know how you get on )
