Which Verizon phones can be used as a modem for a PC?

Which Verizon phones can be used as a modem for a PC?

I don't want to spend a lot of money for a PDA/Smartphone. EVDO.com gives a list of phones that are tetherable but when I call Verizon, they tell me the models I chose can't. Who is right? I can't help but wonder if they just want me to buy an expensive PDA/Smartphone.
